Acupuncture is a traditional form of Chinese medicine and can be used on its own or in combination with physiotherapy to treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Physio acupuncture involves the use of acupuncture after a proper medical diagnosis.
Acupuncture consists of the insertion of thin needles into the skin and underlying tissues, or into certain trigger points. The number of needles and length of time they are inserted for will vary depending on the condition being treated.
Your qualified acupuncturist physiotherapist will be able to combine acupuncture with exercises, manipulation and stretching to speed up rehabilitation from injury and lead to a more successful outcome.
