Cupping therapy is an ancient but effective treatment whereby a practitioner places cups on your skin to form a suction which can help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and more.
Cupping works by creating hyperemia or hemostasis around a person's skin - increasing or decreasing a person's blood flow under the cups. Cupping also has links to acupoints on a person's body, which are central to the practice of acupuncture.
At Physio LDN we often use cupping in conjunction with sports massage, alternating between treatments to ensure you are receiving a constant treatment for the full length of your session.
Please note- cupping leaves circular bruises on the area treated which fade after 2-3 days.
Combine your cupping with a sports massage is a deep tissue massage that manipulates the muscles and eases tightness and restrictions. It can reduce knots and restore mobility around stiff, painful joints.
A sports massage is the perfect way to speed up recovery from injury, whether that is sports-related or has occurred another way. It is also beneficial for people that suffer from generalised aches and pains.
Sports massages have numerous benefits including:
Aiding with aches, pains and strains
Improving sleep
Assisting with sports performance
Decreasing blood pressure
Reducing anxiety
Relaxation
At Physio LDN your sports massage will either be undertaken by a physiotherapist or qualified massage therapist.
